Flooring Customer Information
A well-known
specialist building products manufacturer has
successfully employed an ATD
LC2 inkjet printer to ensure
its products are correctly installed on site.
The
company’s core activities are acoustic flooring
systems and external cladding products.
In
the acoustic flooring division they develop, patent
and manufacture a range of market leading acoustic
flooring products for use in apartment blocks
to prevent noise transmission.
They
also provide a fabrication service, cutting the
panels to the correct size prior to installation
The company contacted ATD in late 2004 with a
problem regarding one of their flooring products.
Customers were incorrectly installing the flooring
systems despite being given detailed fixing instructions
in a leaflet .To solve the problem the company
decided to print a warning message directly onto
the product which was being inappropriately used.

ATD
demonstrated an LC2 printer that could be easily
fixed on line in the production process.
The
printhead is mounted in a robust cradle with a
deflector plate for protection.
Printing
is activated by a photocell as the product passes
the printer on the assembly line.
The company has complete control over the content
and size of the messages, which are easily entered
through the floor mounted
controller.
After
a successful free trial the company purchased
the unit and ATD engineers
quickly sourced and installed it on the line.
The
company comments -
“We
have been delighted by the quality of the solution
and have experienced no teething problems since
installation”.
Feedback
from customers has been excellent and the company
is now considering extending the principle to
other products in their range.
